Chapter 3: Protecting Democracy, Ep. 2

As one journalist points out, people already have a voice and as journalists we help to amplify their messages. Do we simply report to get to the ethical resolution of the voices of the people?

Or are we focused on the deeds of elected officials?  That’s what we’re exploring in episode 2, Chapter 3 of the mark up by mediaverse.

We’re talking to three different journalists about what democracy looks like on their job. We have Elle Perry, longtime friend and colleague of the show and current president of of the Memphis Association of Black Journalists; the good brother John Best of 88.5 who’s been the General Manager and a notable voice on the Memphis Shelby County Schools airwaves for 6 six years ; and Katherine Burgess of the Commercial Appeal who’s been kicking butt in print since she got here in 2018.
